Sustainable Events Case Study - The Enchanted Forest
How do you make your event more sustainable? In this case studies we explain how we are helping Scotland’s largest event reduce their Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions on their journey to becoming net zero.
The challenge
The Enchanted Forest welcomes over 70,000 event attendees every year, for a magical immersive art experience. Bringing people into nature, showing the rich biodiversity in our woodlands, means sustainability is a key component of the event.
Being a sustainable event is part of the organisations identity and purpose. The Enchanted Forest has ambitions to minimise their environmental impact and needed expertise to ensure they do just this.
How we helped
Designed science-based net zero targets aligned to the Scottish Government.
Developing environmental data collection processes to ensure key metrics can be measured.
Designed a data informed net zero transition plan and sustainability policy.
Lobbied systemic change such as sustainable travel across the Highlands of Scotland.
The actions we devised went beyond traditional sustainable event management. By assessing Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, setting targets aligned to the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) and designing a plan to transition to net zero, we devised a best practice sustainable event framework.
The Impact
ENVOLV designed a net zero transition plan that reduces the carbon emissions from the event each year. Through data, policy and a comprehensive plan, The Enchanted Forest can influence, lobby and form partnerships to drive impact.
“ENVOLV has now partnered with The Enchanted Forest for two years, guiding us on our journey to be a more sustainable event. They have built us a roadmap to be a net zero event; an important action to protect the environment and communities.
Our event is incredibly important to the local businesses who benefit from increased footfall in the Highlands, and the charities we support through our Community Trust. For The Enchanted Forest, sustainability is a strategic commitment, guiding how we operate, grow, and deliver lasting value for our community and environment. Partnering with a sustainability specialist who shares our passion for impact is essential.”
